Swiss made Blade guitars?
On his desk sat a cowbell, a pocketknife, a George Orwell reader and an antique ice-cream scoop. There was also a stack of business cards that read: He pressed his thumb to a biometric scanner.
Fender American Pro Jaguar (Maple) An eye-catchingly adventurous design — an exquisite exercise in chrome, plastic and wood — the Jaguar guitar’s delightfully off-kilter aesthetics and unique sound made it a darling of underground artists from the ’70s to today.
I researched this extensively and discovered that anything I need can be purchased from a variety of sources, and if my pockets are deep enough, there is no problem. Well, here’s what I further understood. Some tools and jigs are very simple in construction, but costly, so I decided to create my own, with the exception of a couple, which are more complex or made from materials I do not have at my exposure. I’m fortunate to have a shop full of the basic woodworking and craft tools, and enough experience gained through past experiments to tackle the ‘special’ tool making endeavor, plus I simply get a rise out of creating my own stuff.
It can be as simple as laminated cardboard pieces cut in the shape of the guitar body, or as complex as an item costing a hundred dollars or more. Or, something in between for a lot less money. These spreaders are for the center inward angle of the body, and for the bottom bout. The spreader for the upper bout which I still need to build is similar to the bottom, only shorter.
This spreader is used when gluing the neck and end blocks in place at the top and bottom of the guitar. The upper clamp arm slides on the metal shaft, and the cam lever tensioner can be adjusted to hold things securely in place during the gluing process. The clamp is centered on the bridge and held in place through the sound hole by one of the adjustable clamps pictured above.
how much are old levinson blades worth?
Bob Leggitt Saturday, 10 December From the late s, the Levinson company brought something a little more sophisticated to the world of Strat copies. For the previous few years, much of the variation on the Strat theme had been focused around the genre of hard rock, with humbuckers, pointy headstocks, divebomb-compatible trems and luminous finishes combining to produce guitars of which Spinal Tap would have been proud.
Or, the cheaper option: So imagine the shock, in this climate, of asking for information on the Strat of the future, only to be handed a catalogue… with a bloke in a double-breasted suit on the front cover! Yes, it’s that catalogue.
The sawyer and the rachet setter must be sharp and quick, as the carriage moves the log past the blade quickly. Two fingers means the log must be moved out for a two-inch cut; a fist or a connected finger and thumb followed by four fingers means a in. cut.
Nor is it possible to discuss all of the many people and companies who have contributed to its passage through history. It seems that Walter’s intention was to produce a bass guitar that would be appealing to players of the upright bass double bass who no longer wanted to carry such a big heavy instrument around to play in beat and jazz groups. So we got a bass that has the style and shape not unlike a classical stringed instrument and built in much the same way, hollow bodied, arched topped and a set in neck.
He had used all of these on his Club guitars the year before. The prototype Violin Bass in It differs slightly from production models as it has a black scrachplate and control panel and the logo on the body is on the upper bass bout, not under the tailpiece. The headstock shape also appears to be slightly different to the final production design. The Violin Bass gets its public debut at Frankfurt Musikmesse in Today we don’t know if anyone paid any attention to the new little bass.

Plush Gig Bag Case Silkscreen: The Les Paul Deluxe has the 2 mini humbuckers which are sounding just awesome. Furthermore it has an all mahogany body pancake and Mahogany neck. Chrome hardware, rosewood fretboard-cherry finish,an awesome vintage LP Gibson.
I think your guitar is an older model (?) and looks like it might have the Falcon tremolo system, which is an invention by Gary Levinson. If so, that might make your guitar won of the more prized Blade-guitars.
And what of the other specs? The fretboard is available as ebony or as a flamed maple alternative. Speaking of the Flacon tremolo, here we have a seemingly innocent and innocuous tremolo not unlike those found on a Strat. Below the body, however, lies the deep, dark secret. The patented double block system that allows the bridge to rest flat on the body while still permitting you to bend upward. The RH-4 is also available in four finishes including honey, see thru red, misty violet, and ocean blue, each of which is transparent as to show off the thick ash flaming.
Finishing off the appearance the pickguard is a shimmering sepia mirror. Sepia, for the inquisitive, refers to the dark brownish hue the reflective shield is tinted with. The pickups and electronics Following an HSS pickup configuration using two V-3 stacked single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions, and one LH Vintage humbucker in the bridge position.

This is an alphabetized list of musicians who have made notable use of Gibson Guitar models in live performances or studio recordings. Because of the great popularity of these models, musicians are listed here only if their use of these instruments was especially significant—that is, if.
About Guitars Buying a new guitar is a considerable investment for most of us. An instrument is all about inspiration. You are the musician and the guitar is the tool you use to express your feelings and music. This has nothing to do with what models you choose or how much they cost. Some basic knowledge about the different wood types, neck and body profiles, pickups etc will help you in making the best choice.
However, over the last decade or so, the MIMs has gotten a considerable face lift and the overall quality is very high. In fact, the reason why they are cheaper, ha sless to do with quality but rather lower labour costs, cheaper type of laquer and apply methods etc. Japanese Fenders are considered to be above the Mexicans and perhaps even just as good as the US.
Kay Musical Instrument Company
Stromberg-Voisinet Aero- uke c. In , later president Henry Kay “Hank” Kuhrmeyer joined the company, and in , with the help of an investor, he bought the company and started producing electric guitars and amplifiers. Activity on Kuhrmeyer-era — [ edit ] The company initially manufactured only traditional folk instruments,[ citation needed ] but eventually grew to make a wide variety of stringed instruments, including violins , cellos , banjos , upright basses —and a variety of different types of guitars , including classical guitars , lap steel guitars , semi-acoustic guitars , and solid body electrics.
Some of Kay’s lower-grade instruments were marketed under the Knox and Kent brand names. In addition to manufacturing instruments for sale under its own brands, Kay was also a prolific manufacturer of “house branded” guitars and folk instruments for other Chicago-based instrument makers and, at times, for major department stores including Sears and Montgomery Ward. Kay also made guitar amplifiers , beginning with designs carried over from the old Stromberg company.
The Serial Number Problem The difficulty in determing where your SRV Strat fits into the production line lies in the fact that Fender serial numbering, apparently, has only to do with internal stock control and not particular dates of manufacture.
The Custom is the guitar he is generally associated with. Gibson has also produced two Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior models one double cutaway, and one single cutaway as well as a very limited run of signature acoustic guitars. Since his death, Gibson has discontinued all Chet Atkins models and Gretsch has resumed the manufacturing and distribution of the Chet Atkins line. Beck’s fascination with the guitar sprang as much from his interest in Les Paul , the man, as from his love of the guitar itself.
Beck told an interviewer: The guitar was given to him in by Peter Green. After Bennett’s death the guitar was given to musician Anthony Top Topham. This was the guitar Bloomfield used as a member of the Electric Flag, and on the Super Session album and concerts. Bloomfield eventually lost the guitar in Canada; Wolkin and Keenom’s biography revealed a club owner kept the guitar as partial compensation after Bloomfield cut short a round of appearances.
If you’re looking for an easy to play guitar, the action doesn’t get any lower than this baby. Excellent value and quality that’s typical of Korea today. This model was only made in one small run so there aren’t many of these around – most of the Harm 3 models feature the cats eye f-hole in a semi-hollow design while this model was a limited edition production model that’s no longer available.
It features a solid archtop mahogany body, 22 fret maple set-neck with ebony fretboard and synthetic bone nut, side markers on the side of fretboard only, jumbo frets, flat

The main pickup types are listed out below with approximate dates of factory fitting: Two aluminium vertical adjustment wheel on threaded mountings were originally fitted between the base and main body of the pickup, see plastic cased bar pickup below , but unfortunately these are missing from this example. The centre of the pickup has been hollowed out, and five bar magnets surrounded by a hand-wound coil are fitted inside.
They are of similar construction to the Rosewood Bar pickups above, apart from the material used for the case. A single coil pickup, made by Franz Pix who set up a company in nearby Erlangen specifically to make electrical fittings for Hofner. The Toaster was again very similar internally to the previous Rosewood and Black Bar pickups, with five polepiece magnets set in putty and surrounded by a hand-wound coil.
Unfortunately this unit was very short lived. The picture shows a toaster pickup fitted to a solid guitar. On archtops, the unit is fitted inside a black plastic surround, and located with four small set-screws in the ends of the surround which also are used for adjusting the pickup for height. From into the ‘s: Looks like a humbucking pickup, but in the case of the 6-string conventional guitar version, it is actually a single coil unit fitted with two magnets.
One line of polepieces are adjustable and visible.
