Over the span of three weeks, Industries introduced us to new gameplay mechanics, new maps, and new modes. Connection With the problems that plagued Halo: Unfortunately, we did encounter our fair share of matchmaking issues, especially early on. At the start of the beta, matchmaking often resulted in lengthy search times and horrible wait periods. At the conclusion of a match, I was more often than not booted to the main menu screen and forced to rejoin matchmaking. Halo has traditionally been a slower FPS experience, especially when compared to Call of Duty or the more recent Titanfall. First-person shooters nowadays emphasize quick movement.

What can be discussed in regards to servers, though, is a new form of matchmaking, as brought up from a recent post on the Halo Waypoint forums by Joshua Menke, Lead Engagement Designer for Halo. New Matchmaking Offers Less Wait Time, but Potentially More Imbalance Menke has kept a running series of Matchmaking Feedback posts, musing over the current state of how well players can connect to one another in a lobby that both has a good connection and a fair playing field.

In his latest post, Menke revealed the tweak to matchmaking in SWAT and Free-For-All playlists, which is the expansion of search time in lobbies to have players “be guaranteed a match without having to restart their search.

Depending on the issue, the following game play features may be affected: REQ Pack or card inventory is unavailable. REQ Packs can’t be purchased from the store or in-game. Newly purchased REQ Packs are not visible in-game. REQ Cards are unavailable to be used during Warzone.

Seems pretty disingenuous to create a thread asking a question, to then dismiss logical reasons based on facts as “internet hyperbole”. Or are you accusing me of lying for some reason? We know Halo 6 is coming. Whether it’s called Halo 6, Halo 6: Unnecessary and confusing subtitle, or Halo: Halo 5 launched in a barebones state, but has since recieved some of the absolute best post-launch support I’ve seen in an online shooter, right up there with Overwatch or Rainbow Six Siege. However, not only do I think Halo 6 needs to launch feature-full to maintain the large influx of players at launch, but I also think it needs to impress PC gamers.
Campaign aside, how can Halo re-enter the spotlight? As an E-Sport, Halo 5 has done surprisingly well, but it has so much untapped potential. Here are my hopes and dreams: Fix the aiming on console. Halo 4 aiming was buttery smooth, so just follow that. PC version would obviously be less of a concern here.
